    Vintage AMRCA Tether Race Car - TROPHY - JACKSONVILLE, FLA - 1951
    This award was won by East Coast Cable Car Champion Robert (Bob) Loose of High Crest, PA. Who raced between 1946 and 1963. Competing in (14) AMRCA National events with (2) first and (6) second to fourth place finishes. Loose’s
    lucrative printing business allowed him to travel at will, competed on tracks throughout the East Coast, the South (wintered in Florida), the Mid West ( 1

    place at the 1961 Ohio State Championship) and West Coast in both AMRCA and IMRCA sanctioned events with over (20)
    first to third place finishes, beating some of the country’s top racers.
    In 1962 he was a member of the US Racing Team that competed in the “World Nationals” at Stockholm Sweden. Loose set (2) IMRCA “World Speed Records” in 1949 and was instrumental in forming the Reading, PA model race car club, with financial support to help with the
    building of their first cable track. (The “Belt-Line Speedway”).
    Bob designed and manufactured his own Custom Proto Car( about 12 sold)
    in the mid 50’s, the ” Loose Special” powered by a Dooling .61 engine (modified by Franny Wolf,
    who was
    a good friend
    and often his racing partner). The Loose Special car was very competitive, with (2) first place and (3) second place finishes in its class at the 1960 – 63 AMRCA Nationals.
    In 1951 Bob published “Model Race Car News” in which he was the editor. In the late 1950’s and early 60’s he was a member of the “Leigh Valley Model Race Car Club” (Bethlehem PA) and competed at the clubs “Fox Speedway”. In 1954 he was one of only 4 men in the country to turn 150mph.

    ob Loose’s racing career is well documented in such publications as Model Craftsmen, Rail and Cable News, Model Race Car Magazine and AMRCA and IMRCA club newsletters.
    Being offered, from the 1951 AMRCA sanctioned meet held in Jacksonville Fla, on Feb 17 & 18, an 11th place trophy won by Bob Loose in the Proto Class with a speed of 134.93mph. Tether car races were also held at the  Daytona Beach track  that week. The 7" trophy is engraved     JAX-FLA. -  2-18-51 - 11th  Proto   and is in good condition. Included is a copy of the race results ands a photo of the particapents that include,H. Frank, Fairabend, Prussian, Mathews, Ilg *) and Loose. This was copied from an issue of "Miniature Race Car News", Vol. 1- #1 that Bob Loose published  and printed .(* Ilg, New Speed Record). A nice addition to any collection . Shipping 1 1/2 lbs
