Description
On July 23, 1949 Beeville was made a stop on the San Antonio to Houston segment of Air Mail Route 82. An official map-type cachet, revised to show the addition of Beeville, was provided. Beeville was added between San Antonio and Victoria.This cover was carried on the inaugural Air Mail Route 82 flight from Beeville, Texas to Houston, Texas (where it was backstamped) and is listed in the Contract Air Mail Flights (CAM) Section of The American Air Mail Catalogue as 82E33.
Effective April 1, 1969, the name of Trans-Texas Airways was changed to Texas International Airlines, in recognition of the airlines’ right to service Mexico.
