Original cassette from 1992 - still sealed and mint condition - has a promo notch in the spine though. See pictures."Good Stuff" was an attempt to recapture the good vibes of "Love Shack." It didn't quite capture it, but it had its own charms, from the friendly beat to Fred Schneider's endearing vocal affectations. It wasn't as good as, but it did have the distinction of being the best single pulled from Good Stuff. Since it was released in 1992, when singles were released in seemingly endless permutations in both the U.S. and the U.K., "Good Stuff" was available in all sorts of incarnations. In the U.S., it was released as a seven-inch single, with an edit of the title track taking up the A-side and the B given over to "Bad Influence."
This 1992 album was the follow-up to their hugely-successful Cosmic Thing, which was their last album of the '80s. Moving on with their 'party band' persona (but minus founding member Cindy Wilson), the '90s version of the band was just as fun, catchy and focused as ever. Though down to a trio, there's not a drop in energy or ideas and Good Stuff has plenty of both. How can you resist an album with a song like 'Hot Pants Explosion'? Other highlights include 'Revolution Earth', 'Breezin'' and 'Dreamland'. The B-52s would not release another studio album for 16 years!
Minus Cindy Wilson this is marginally less cosmic than its multi-platinum predecessor. Still, there's plenty of delicious absurdity ("Is That You Mo-Dean"), Seventies camp ("Hot Pants Explosion"), serious romance ("Revolution Earth") and a tune ("Good Stuff") that frankly celebrates the wild thing. Let's not be stingy: this is great stuff. --Jeff Bateman
