    Description

For the introduction of all-cargo service from New York to three principal points on its route to west and
southern Africa, Pan Am furnished cachets for all points in both directions. Although touted as a jet
inaugural, this was in fact the first all-cargo service rather than the substitution of jet equipment for
    piston planes.
    This cover was
carried on the April 29, 1973
inaugural Foreign Air Mail Route 18 flight from the John F Kennedy Airport Mail Facility in New York to Monrovia, Liberia
    (where it was
    backstamped
) and is listed in the Foreign Air Mail (FAM) Section of The American Air Mail Catalogue as F18-450Fa.
