    Description

Promotional booklet published by the Spokane Chamber of Commerce in Spokane, Washington. 16p with a red paper cover that folds closed, with large illustrations on the outside front and back covers that show scenic views of nature, a farmer looking at a map of Washington and, under the title "The Richness of Eastern Washington", a elaborately dressed goddess-styled woman with stereotypical Native American clothes, jewelry, and headdress. On the inside of the cover are large blocks of advertising text, including lists of "what we have in Spokane country", like fertile land and mild summers, and a list of "what we do not have in Spokane country", which includes things like "no cyclones, blizzards nor violent windstorms" and "no Hessian fly, army work, chinch bug or poptato bugs, nor weevil". One section just has in large letters "Why not live in a fine climate and enjoy life? You will be a long time dead". The actual pages of the booklet have, on the outside, a form you can fill out and send to the Spokane Chamber of Commerce to get more information. Booklet is profusely illustrated, with long, detailed narrative descriptions of Spokane's attractions, local economy, and so forth. Published by Shaw & Borden Co, printers in Spokane, WA. 7 1/4" x 4 1/2" when folded.
