    Description

On May 8, 2986 Delta Airlines added Shannon to its system with three nonstop flights and three one-stop flights
through London each week. All of the flights used Lockheed L-1011-500 aircraft. The new service
through London was Delta’s first service to London’s other airport, Gatwick.
This cover was carried on the inaugural Delta Airlines flight from the Atlanta, Georgia Airport Mail Facility to Shannon, Ireland (where it was backstamped) and is listed in The American Air Mail Catalogue as DL-F70f
    .
