Industrial Machine Rubber Power Belt "GIANT" Sample
Measures 3" by 6"
Belt is wrapped around what looks like wood since it is solid and stiff. Looks like this is a sample from Revere Rubber Company which is long gone. It has the company name on the front along with the Giant word inside a circle as shown.
It is not dated, but estimates to date back to the turn of the century estimate c.1890. I found old advertising online that said, "Giant is the original stitched belt and the best ever produced for general hard service under trying conditions. Especially adapted for heavy drive work in paper mills, saw mills, oil well driving, or any service where moisture or varying climate conditions prevail."

Revere Rubber Company
was located at 63 Franklin Street, in Boston. An advertisement for the Revere Rubber Co. from the 1885 Boston city directory claimed that the company was a manufacturer of: India Rubber Goods for mechanical purposes.  Patent Giant Seamless ans Stitched Belting, Superior to other Belting. Steam Packing, Engine Hose. Suction, Steam, Tanner's and Brewer's Hose. Deckle Straps & Rubber Covered Rolls for Paper Makers. Bicycle Tires, Billiard Cushions. Rubber Soling. Printers' Blankets, Cotton Faced Blankets. Rubber Faced Card Cloth, Rubber Mats. Rubber Thread for Weaving. Factories at  Chelsea, Mass. Joseph Banigan, President; George H. Hood, General Manager; Henry C. Morse, Treasurer.
Condition as shown in photos is good for age. Rubber is around a center which I think is wood. Ad sample has age and use, rub and scuff, discoloration and soiling marks, outside is hard, scratches. Pre-owned. Unique item.
