One of the fastest growing and almost unnoticed portions of the collector car market is the collector pickup truck segment. Chevrolet's C/K selection of C10/Silverado trucks and Blazers have excited the market over the past couple of years now! The longest running of these trucks debuted with the 3rd Generation "Rounded Line" style in 1973 and continued through 1991. The top-of-the-line Silverado would come into the showrooms in 1975. Many upgrades and option changes were made over the years, but the reality that people were now using trucks as daily drivers forced Chevrolet to add better creature comforts, fuel economy, and sedan-like road feel to enhance the driving experience for buyers. This included accommodating suspensions and the availability of power windows & door locks. And a V8 diesel engine offered for the first time in 1982 for some added torque and longevity. More and more these trucks are showing up at high line auctions as well as finding their way into overseas collections. These pieces of Americana represent some of the best built trucks produced at the time and continue to rise in value and desirability every year!
Offered here is a three-owner 1984 Chevrolet C10 Silverado Regular Cab pickup with Fleetside bed. The exterior has already been refinished one time in its code-correct Two-tone Bright Red/Light Slate combination while retaining an all-original Red Brick chino velour bench seat interior and carpet! This example was special ordered by a General Motors employee in late 1983 as his retirement gift to himself through the employee discount program. He placed his order through Jim Meagher Chevrolet-Oldsmobile in St. Charles, Missouri and took delivery on October 6th, 1983. It would come fitted with all the options he desired including the 6.2L MPI OHV V8 diesel engine, 4-speed automatic transmission, air conditioning, power steering, power disc brakes, power window & locks, heavy duty suspension, chrome rear step bumper, front bumper guards, tinted window glass, passenger vanity mirror, upgraded sound system with rear speakers, cruise control, tilt steering column, dual fuel tanks, aluminum trimmed instrumentation panel, dome light, under hood light, 15" rally wheels with trim rings, door edge guards, body side moldings, wheel lip molding, floor mats, and more!
He didn't stop there after taking delivery though. It would be further protected with stone flaps at all four wheels, Line-A-Bed bed liner, complete Zeibart rust prevention treatment to the cab and chassis, and the addition of chrome bed side rails! It even has a classic Motorola RPM gauge with rev counter added to the steering colmun! It would receive a full repaint about the time it traded hands to a new owner in 2001 with approximately 118,000 miles on the odometer. It went to a neighboring St. Peters, MO resident who would be lovingly maintained as a weekend truck and fair-weather cruiser under his care for the next 17 years. It would receive annual maintenance as needed and only part ways with this owner after it was lost in a divorce settlement in 2018.
It has been recently serviced by the St. Louis Car Museum to include a full transmission overhaul by Metz Transmission Service in July 2021, complete engine oil change with fresh filter, two new batteries, new air filter, front sway bar bushings, front wheel seals and brake pads, an air conditioning compressor clutch assembly with retrofit to R134a and recharge of refrigerant, dash ventilation vacuum pump, new hood insulation, and two new mufflers. Today, the odometer reads 137,068 miles and continues to perform wonderfully! It comes with original owner's manuals, one set of keys, factory build sheet, and clean CarFax report. This should make for a terrific investment for someone looking for a unique truck with a stellar rust-free platform, low ownership history, and loaded with great options! Act quickly at this price! It won't last long!
