Description
1932 airmail postal cachet cover celebrating the "First Flight Air Mail Route AM 18 P.O.D., Sioux Falls, South Dakota, January 16, 1932" sent to Salisbury, England. This message surrounds a beautiful greenish-blue illustration of the falls with a plane in flight.It is postmarked with a cancellation clearly reading January 16, 1932 (Sioux Falls, SD). There is also a handstamp at right reading "Domestic Air Mail Service to Port of Dispatch." (There are some hand-written notations on the reverse in pencil, but these appear to be notes from some prior stamp dealer.) It is
franked using one 4c (Scott #687) and one 5c (Scott #C12) stamps.
The cover is in excellent, clean condition. It is a Very Fine piece ready to enhance any collection of U.S., airmail, or event covers.
